Zimba's stroy
Grandpa Zimba was rescued by Camp Cocker Rescue in the spring of 2023. Something about Zimba told me he had an old soul; he was very clear about his purpose in life. He had multiple medical issues due to long-term neglect from his previous owner. When I communicated with him, he shared glimpses of his past life. His former family had grown up and moved away. He fondly remembered family gatherings, BBQs in the park, and playing with other dogs. Those were his happiest memories.
As time passed, Zimba's health declined, mirroring the struggles of his family, particularly his dad, who suffered from a major medical issue. Zimba believed that by taking on his dad's illness, he could help his family. He was proud to have fulfilled his mission of helping his family, even if it meant saying goodbye sooner than he wished. He felt deeply loved and appreciated by his foster mom, who extended his life and filled his golden years with joy.
When his time came to transition, Zimba wanted to ensure his foster mom and friends wouldn’t cry but remember him with smiles and happiness. He promised to visit me after his passing. Amazingly, just two hours later, I noticed a large insect sitting where Zimba last visited. Unlike other creatures, this insect didn’t fly away when approached by my dogs. When I called it, the insect climbed onto my hand, confirming it was Zimba. He cheerfully explained that he wanted to see how it felt to borrow the body of a small creature, knowing I’d recognize him.
Zimba expressed his gratitude for our friendship over the past year. He assured me he wouldn’t visit his foster mom as an insect, knowing she wasn’t fond of them. Instead, he promised to find other ways to remind us of his enduring love and happiness.
