Pips' story

Pips is a very petite dog who was rescued from overseas one year ago. A client contacted me to communicate with her and ask how she could make her more comfortable going to the groomer.

The client mentioned that Pips was fired by her long term groomer due to her recent aggression toward the groomer. She was never a fan of the grooming but she progressively got worse and she tried to bite the groomer a few times.

The client wanted me to communicate and prepare Pips for an upcoming grooming appointment with her new groomer.

As I tuned into Pips, she told me that she does not like loud noise that she hears and she does not like how she has to be restrained . Then she showed me how she feels unsettled being on the higher grooming table that is so far off the ground.

She also told me that how she gave a warning many times to tell the groomer that she does not like it and she would need a bit of a break so she could go slow with the grooming. She claimed that the groomer did not listen to her and Pips was able to sense how the groomer was stressed and scared of her.

I told Pips I understand how she was frustrated. Then I created my mental image that Pips is being wrapped into a pink safe bubble, being brave and relaxed to be groomed by a new groomer. I showed how mom would be happy.

Then I told her that I will make sure to tell mom to tell a groomer to give Pips enough breaks if she gives a warning. Also, how she prefers to be in a quiet room and possibly on the ground or lower the table while she is being groomed. I also told her that she would give very special treats after the grooming. Then I asked her if she would be willing to try to be brave ? She wagged her tail and said yes.

I sent Pips Reiki healing energy prior to her grooming appointment. I also told the client to create an imaginary pink bubble and wrap Pips in it to tell how she would be safe and protected.

After her grooming, the client contacted me to say how Pips was so great with her new groomer and they were able to finish her grooming in 1 1/2 hours. Where she used to go for grooming would take 4 hours due to her temperament.

I believe that Pips being difficult to groom at the first groomer was due to all of things that were frustrating her. Being wrapped by a pink bubble from mom and myself gave her the courage to be the brave girl who she is now.
